Class Representative Roles & Responsibilities

The A&FA sincerely thanks you for your time and effort as a Class Representative. You serve as the vital link between your graduating class and the A&FA. By fostering communication, organizing engagement opportunities, and representing your peers, Class Representatives play an essential role in building a strong, active alumni network. You are encouraged to focus on the following:

1. Communication Liaison

• Develop & maintain a Contact List for your commissioning class. Relay information and updates from A&FA leadership. Modes of communication are completely at your discretion. Feel free to use email distros, Facebook groups, messaging apps, etc.

2. Membership Promotion and Event Engagement

• Encourage classmates to join the A&FA and participate! Active engagement directly supports the Unit and the Midshipmen. Your involvement matters!

• Alumni & Friends are always cordially invited to the various year-round Unit functions/events in Milwaukee to include: the Alumni Reunion/Open House Lunch, Navy & Marine Corps Birthday Fall Ball, Joint ROTC Awards Day, Spring Ball, Commissioning Ceremonies, and others. Individual visits to the Unit (Old Gym) are encouraged during any weekday (Calling ahead is recommended).

3. Reunion Coordination

• Typically recommended for classes holding 5- or 10-year commissioning anniversaries. Determine interest in attending the annual Alumni Reunion/Open House which coincides with the Annual Marquette Alumni Reunion Weekend. Work with the A&FA Reunion Coordinator to account for attendance, catering, weekend activities and schedule.

4. Promote Financial Support for the A&FA and the Seapower Leadership Association (SLA)

• Ask fellow Alumni to consider a tax-deductible donation. The SLA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization which helps improve support to the Unit and Midshipmen.

5. Alum and Young Alum of the Year Nominations

• Solicit nominations for exceptional Alum (>10 years) and Young Alum (<10 years) of the Year candidates by 01 Aug of each year. Details are sent out via SEPCOR.

Responsibilities are flexible and can be adapted based on availability. By serving in this role, Class Representatives contribute meaningfully to the strength and vitality of the Marquette Alumni community. Your Class Representative Coordinators, Zach Dueñas and Chad Tutton, are here to assist you when needed. Feedback to the A&FA is always welcome as we continue to improve our organization.
